Use Case · Routing

Fit more stops into fewer miles.

Every extra mile and every out-of-order stop is time and fuel you do not get back. Kiva Logic takes the day's delivery route and optimizes the stop order, then writes that sequence straight back onto the orders your driver actually runs, so the same deliveries take less driving.

Optimize a route when you are ready, send the tightened order to the printed route sheet and the driver app, and put more stops on the truck without adding hours to the day.

Where the Miles Go

A route in the wrong order costs you all day.

Stops added in the order they came in, backtracking across town, and a driver deciding the sequence on the fly. The deliveries are the same either way, but a messy route eats hours and fuel that a tight one does not.

Stops in signup order

Orders land on the route in the order they came in, not the order that makes sense to drive. That is a lot of crossing your own path for no reason.

Hours you cannot bill

Extra driving is time your driver is paid for and fuel you buy, with nothing extra delivered at the end of it. A tighter sequence gives some of that day back.

The driver guesses

Without a planned order, the driver figures out the next stop from the truck. Every guess is a chance to double back, miss a cutoff, or run long.

How It Helps

Optimize the route, then drive it.

You run the optimization for a route and day, and the tightened order flows into everything the driver already uses. No second system to keep in sync.

Optimize the stop order, written back to the orders

Run the optimization on a delivery route and the software works out a better stop order, then writes that sequence back onto that day's orders. The route your driver runs is the optimized one, not a separate plan sitting off to the side.

OpenRouteService or Mapbox

Optimization runs on OpenRouteService by default, with Mapbox available as an alternative engine. A separate legacy Routific integration is available as well, so you have options for how the route gets solved.

You choose when to run it

Optimization is an action you trigger for a specific route and day, not something that quietly reshuffles behind your back. You lock the run when the orders are set and you are ready, so nothing changes under you at the wrong moment.

Cutoff-aware routes

Each route has a cutoff a set number of hours before delivery that governs whether an order still makes that run. Orders that beat the cutoff are on the route you optimize, so you are sequencing the deliveries that are actually going out.

Straight to the route sheet, driver app, and GPX

The optimized sequence flows into the printable driver route sheets and the stop order in the driver app, so everyone is on the same order. A route can also be exported as GPX when you want it in another tool.

Routing is built into the platform.

Not a bolt-on. Optimization lives in the same system that holds your orders, your route sheets, and your driver app, all from fifteen years of running local delivery on one platform. For the full driver app and routing detail, see the delivery routing software page.

Common questions.

What does route optimization actually do?

It takes a delivery route for a given day, works out a better order to make the stops, and writes that optimized sequence back onto that day's orders. The route your driver runs becomes the optimized one, rather than a plan kept somewhere separate.

Which optimization engine does it use?

OpenRouteService by default, with Mapbox available as an alternative. A separate legacy Routific integration is also available. They are distinct engines, so you pick the one that fits how you want routes solved.

Does it re-optimize on its own?

No. Optimization is an action you run for a specific route and day when you are ready. It does not quietly reshuffle in the background, so the route stays put until you choose to optimize it.

How do cutoffs fit in?

Each route has a cutoff a set number of hours before delivery that governs whether an order still makes that run. Orders that beat the cutoff are the ones on the route, so you are optimizing exactly the deliveries that are going out that day.

Where does the optimized route show up?

In the printable driver route sheets and the stop order in the driver app, so the office and the driver see the same sequence. You can also export a route as GPX. For the full driver app and routing detail, see the delivery routing software page.
